Carlos Perez Valencia, 42, pleaded not guilty Wednesday after being accused of conspiring to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine mixtures. Valencia is also charged with possessing with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine mixtures.

Valencia was arrested on Dec. 15, 2006 after FBI agents seized about eight kilograms of cocaine on the 2800 block of West Cermak Road, in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood.

Valencia's co-defendant-Angel Sida, 42-owns the buildings at 2874 West Cermak Rd. and 2876 West Cermak Rd., according to court documents.

The prosecution alleges that Valencia met last December with an FBI informant at a shopping center parking lot at Archer and Ashland avenues in Chicago's South Side to discuss the sale of 20 kilograms of cocaine. They met later that month at a Home Depot store in Cicero, Ill. to negotiate prices.

Valencia is not a U.S. citizen, is not authorized to live or work in the country and has no verified means of support in the United States, according to court documents. The court determined him to be a flight risk, and he is being held at the Metropolitan Correction Center without bond.

Valencia is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 16 in front of U.S. District Judge Elaine E. Bucklow.

Sida was released on a $300,000 secured bond..
