before the modern wing opened, there was a period during which this sculpture was the only thing in this long hallway connecting the wings. unfortunately i didn't get a decent picture of it then! 

this is another panorama (see here), but i'm still not happy with the software i'm using. the various programs either leave visible seams or (in this case) leaves you with doubles of some items. the ideal software would also straighten lines.

The positioning of this statue is perfect. It was up high and the eyes are looking down upon the museum's guests.

Photo enthusiasts should click on the link to Paul's flickr page and read more about the technique he used for the photograph of the buddha statue. It's quite something.
