Windy Citizen has openings for fall editorial and marketing interns

WindyCitizen.com, Chicago's #1 local news aggregator, has openings in its intern program for fall editorial and marketing interns.   We're looking for news junkies and creative problem solvers who can think on their feet.

As another terrific Chicago summer wrap up, our current crop of fearless interns, Kristen Thometz, Andre Francisco, John Kristoff, Jonathan Nelson, and Len Kody, will be moving on to new opportunities or taking on different roles in the organization.  They've done tremendous work and leave big shoes to fill.

About these internships

Editorial interns will be responsible for helping our community aggregate the best news of the day, build conversations around popular posts and report on local events and stories that catch our community's eye.

Marketing interns will work to support Windy Citizen's outreach efforts, organize events, and work with local publishers to get their stories into the mix.

Requirements

Hours are flexible.  Our team works remotely and keeps in touch via e-mail.

The ideal intern is a quick learner and agile writer.  Your results will be measured in consistency, quality of the discussions that happen on your channel and the number of folks you draw in to particpate in those discussions.  You will gain deep knowledge of your subject matter by the end of the internship.  You will also  greatly expand your constellation of contacts in local media in Chicago.

Compensation

These positions are unpaid.  Interns who produce results will receive startup experience, a rave endorsement for future job opportunities, and experience building the skills of the future: aggregating, community- and audience-building and social media relations.

How to apply

To apply send your resume and a short cover letter to editor@windycitizen.com. The deadline to apply is Monday August 31.  Don't delay.  The sooner you send in your materials, the sooner we can interview you.   Openings are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis as we find people who are good fits.
