Hey there WCers,
As the Citizen keeps on picking up new members and you keep on posting more stories, I've received more and more requests to make it easier to break down submissions by topic. Instead of just seeing a single feed of the most popular submissions and latest submissions, you've been asking for the ability to filter by subject matter.
Today I'm pleased to announce that your wish has been granted. Across the top of the Citizen's front page, you should now see links to new subsections of the site organized by topic.
If you just want Chicago news and politics, there's a tab for that.
If you're just into Chicago sports (or a specific team), there's a tab for that.
If you just want to read local food and dining news, there's a tab for that.
The new second level of navigation contains the old "Popular" and "Latest" links, which now work in tendem with the topic tabs to let you shift between....let's say popular media news and the latest media news.
I expect we'll be rolling out a few touches to the new navigation over the next week, but for now, go play with it and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

I like the change a lot, but it does seem that the categories need tweaking.
Why is theater "arts" and music "entertainment"? (For that matter, wouldn't food be culinary "arts"?)
Where does "weird" news that isn't about people go? And perhaps there ought to be a category for nature, outdoor, environmental and green issues (green roofs, park district news, Lake Michigan, forest preserves, gardening items, recycling, etc.).
Heya. Well, it's going to take some tweaking. We're breaking food out as its own tab because there are a ton of local food sites out there, twice as many as there are local music sites by my count.
As for Arts Vs. Entertainment...What if we just merged the two into Arts and Entertainment?
As always, your feedback is appreciated. Note that stories can be posted to the main parents categories in addition to the sub-channels, in case there's something that doesn't quite fit.
A combined arts/entertainment list would suit very well, and it would save you a tab space you might want for something else later. Two, if you merge Food in there.
Perhaps move "Weird" under News?
If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have realized I could click the parent tab and get everything in that category. That's a great feature.
