New Windy Citizen Sponsor: Friends of Dan Hynes

Happy Monday, everyone!

We've been on quite a roll lately with advertisers and sponsorships here at Windy Citizen.  There are a few reasons for that, which I hope to say more about in a future post, but for now, know that solid growth of the community here on the WC is attracting some very interesting advertisers.  In August we had The Fresh Diet support us for a full month while September saw Chicago Now sponsor Windy Citizen for two weeks.

This week sees the launch of a spot from Friends of Dan Hynes, who are putting out the word that Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes is running for Governor of Illinois.

We've provided Friends of Dan Hynes with a real-time ad spot in the sidebar of all pages on the Windy Citizen.  It shows his latest Twitter update and includes links to his Twitter and Facebook pages.   The spot updates in real-time, so you can follow Hyne's campaign from the front page of the Windy Citizen.

We will also be pulling news updates from the Hynes' campaign's blog into our upcoming story feed.  You'll see these posts demarcated with a red "syndicated" tag that appears by the dateline on the story.

I think the ad spot looks great and feedback from the WCers who've pinged me about it has been very positive.  Informational advertising is lightyears beyond standard banner advertising.  Our goal is to provide the community with useful information from interesting people looking to reach Chicagoans.

You may be seeing more campaign advertising on the WC in the next few months.  I've received a handful of inquiries that we're considering carefully.

Just four months ago we ran a 1-week fundraiser to help keep the lights on at the Windy Citizen.  What a difference, eh?
