David Woodhouse, the winner of the competition to design a memorial for Burnham, would like the memorial to be placed in the Museum Campus because of how it would reflect Burnham's achievements all around:

The museum at your back? A Burnham design. Grant Park? Burnham's imprint is on that. And the glorious Chicago skyline? Burnham had a hand in that, as well.

The design for the memorial:

As proposed, there will be plenty to see at the memorial site. Besides the life-size Burnham statue, Woodhouse and his co-workers designed two granite walls that, on one side, reflect the skyline and on the other hold burnished stainless steel replicas of Burnham's plans.

A curved wall will name Chicagoans who have contributed to the building of the city in a variety of ways.

Woodhouse's plan also includes reshaping the lawn.

Woodhouse said the time he spent researching Burnham and his designs fueled the inspiration that went into the monument: "That all of us can make a better Chicago, and not just physically," he said.
