Man accused of shooting pregnant girlfriend, her sister

A man accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend and her sister at their home in south suburban Park Forest was ordered held on bond of $1.5 million today.

Timothy Lucas, 31, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.

Prosecutors say he got in an argument with children living at the couple's home on July 18.

When he started beating the children, his girlfriend attempted to intervene and he attacked her, shooting her several times and shooting her sister in the leg and face, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office.

The unborn child was unhurt and the pregnant girlfriend made a full recovery, but the sister is still being treated in hospital, the release says.

Judge Darren Bowden set Lucas's bond during a brief hearing at Markham Courthouse this morning, the release says.

Lucas faces up to 30 years behind bars if convicted.
