Two males were struck and killed Tuesday night in Stickney Township by an Amtrak train bound for Union Station, officials said.
The inbound No. 304 train on the passenger line's Lincoln Service route was traveling through unincorporated Cook County near Stickney at about 8:30 p.m., when it struck two people trespassing on the tracks, Amtrak officials said.
The tracks are owned by the Canadian National Railroad, but used by Amtrak trains.
No one on the train was injured, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said. Magliari couldn't provide an exact location of the collision.
Magliari said the train would remain at the scene until officials from the Cook County medical examiner's office arrived there. A medical examiner's spokesman said two unidentified males were killed.
The collision was also expected to delay the arrival of last train coming to Chicago from St. Louis, Magliari said.
