The Bears took the field today in a game that would likely determine what they were all about this year. Instead of coming out of the gates and making a statement, the Bears defense came out looking unprepared and pathetic.

The loss falls squarely on Lovie Smith. The defense looked clueless. Harris, a team captain, pulled a stunt that rookies know better not to do. And the Bears have given up 31 or more points in two of the last three weeks - and only five times in Bears history before this season.
If there isn't some miraculous five or six game winning streak up next, Lovie needs to go. In fact, time to overhaul the entire staff.
Duplicate of CSNChicago.com share, Joe Stuckel? How might we advance this story with your valued sporting insights?
I'm not sure I understand your comment/question. Please explain further.
Qstrian likes to point out when someone else shared a similar story. For post-game coverage of a Bears game, that seems a little silly. We should have 5-10 stories on the WC about it, not just one.
This team has passed its 'sell by' date...this isnt the Bears of 2000-2006...the defense isnt the same, there are no play makers to surround the marquee QB - the team needs a GM who can draft, a coach who can prepare his team and young playmakers on both sides of the ball...it may be time to start over now as Minn will be the cream of the division anyway for the next 2-3 years
Absolutely. We're in for a bit of a rebuilding period, both on the staff side and with the players. Offensive line and defensive line are big needs right now, and you can't just build those overnight. They take a few seasons to build up to a high level, and given that we don't even have a draft pick until round 3 this coming draft, it could taken even longer.
I feel pretty silly for buying into the Cutler hype like everyone else before this season. The guy's got an arm, but the team itself just stinks.
I thought that's what he was getting at. With a game like we witnessed yesterday, it's important to get more stories out there about the team's struggles.
Yeah - lets keep the stories and conversation going...time for Bears fans to be more vocal about the garbage they keep putting out there...unreal how the BEars blew their window
Being vocal might be the only hope to getting Lovie Smith fired in this offseason. The McCaskey's certainly don't want to eat his 11 million, but if they get enough pressure from the fans/national media, we might get lucky. We're already a huge laughing stock of the NFL. Troy Aikman is making high school football references regarding our Bears. What a sad display of football this season.
