New teachers find themselves in good company, getting a stipend of just $100 to buy school supplies for their entire class. Most teacher a forced to dig in to their own pockets.

A few generous benefactors such as Chicago retailer--Staples--solicits donations from the public. Leading Chicago law firms, such as McDermott Will & Emery, provide pro bono tutorial reading programs for individual schools.

As always, it takes a village to raise a child. Give something back to your community & reap the feel good rewards!
