I can't believe Wal-Mart hasn't paid him off yet!
Truly, though, saying that a Wal-Mart franchise will not succeed somewhere is ridiculous. It's been proven time and time again that it will not fail in almost any circumstance. Besides - it creates jobs, and isn't that what we need right now in the U.S.?
As Anna says below, sure, Wal-Marts create jobs, but they're not the kinds of jobs that go over well with unions.
Well - that's why they don't have unions. I worked for Wal-Mart for 2 years, so I know first hand. It's a great place to work for. I never had any of the trouble that everyone else seemed to have. The aren't anti-union, they are "pro-associate" which I believe is pretty true. They pay well.
Hey, I'm with you man. I don't go for that pinko commie crap :)
If you read closely, the story doesn't say that Wal-Mart won't succeed. What it's saying is that politically there's not a high chance for the proposal succeeding in City Council. The problem, as it's often the case here, is with the unions. As you can imagine, they're not exactly fans of Wal-Mart.
