Don't quit your day job too fast fellow Windy Citizens. The Wind Energy business may appear attractive to those environmentally-minded, but allow me to share a few trends which may discourage a quick jump:
1) Many of these windy energy installation & some of the smaller manufacturing firms appear to be hard-hit in the short-term by the credit crunch.
2) Wind Energy firms prefer to hire electrical engineers & structural engineers fluent in a variety of European languages (Dutch & German) since Europe has taken a wind energy technology lead over the United States.
3) Wind farm maintenance technicians must be accustomed to living in rural & exurban communities. Round the clock service work requires that repairpersons work in all types of weather.

It's an exciting time to get involved in wind energy, but be sure to do your due diligence for jumping in to a new career.
