Block 37 phoenix from the ashes grand opening announcement reminds Windy Citizens of the marvelous nature of real estate property development, management & negotiations. The spirit which resurrected Chicago from the flames of the Chicago Fire lives on in some of Chicago's leading visionaries!
These are very small units, mostly if not entirely. It's good to see the little guy on State Street, but let's face it, these folks are on the ropes. I wish them all luck, but it's going to be a long, tough haul.
They should have not torn down the whole block. How stupid.
Imagine how expensive rent for Block 37 retail space will be, disaffected.
Cook County Circuit Court Judge Margaret Brennan placed developer Joseph Freed's Block 37 project in to receivership under the management of CB Richard Ellis--the same management firm responsible for management of the Daley Civic Center. Judge Brennan reportedly was most concerned that the developer apparently didn't have the funds to complete the project.

Surprisingly, the City of Chicago did issue a partial occupancy permit, but too late to stave off receivership.
