Alfonso Tornabene, 1923-2009: Pizzeria owner and an alleged leader of Chicago Outfit

Suburban pizzeria owner Alfonso "Al" Tornabene was reported to be a high-ranking member of the Chicago Outfit who at one point helped run the criminal organization while one of its leaders was in federal prison.

A longtime resident of Stickney, Mr. Tornabene, 86, died of complications related to peptic ulcer disease Sunday, May 17, in MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.
