I'm not going to give away the girl's name in the comments, but I will say I'm glad to hear she's ok. Wicker Park?

I think this headline is ridiculous.

Vote 'er down. I just did. Pretty sure this doesn't belong at the top.

How so? Her name is "Precious Walker" and she happens to be featured in a story about her being spirited away under questionable circumstances while walking with a friend. I found that ridiculous.

The name Precious is a legit name. It's definitely more common in the African American community, but it's a name.

Also, your headline didn't suggest that the circustances surrounding her disappearance was ridiculous. You said that her name is ridiculous. That's not cool.

It never occurred to me that my comment could be read in a racist light. That was not my intention at all. I thought the synergy between the name and the story was ridiculous. That didn't come out in what I wrote. Thanks for pointing this out.

Do police typically release the names of 14-year olds who are victims of crimes?

I thought that strange, as well. Maybe she's not been the victim of a crime?

Normally names of a juvenile are never released, unless you are charged in a crime as an adult.

I wonder if Johnathan found out about that little nugget of legal trivia the same way I did?
