The gunman who holed himself up in the emergency room of the Jesse Brown veterans hospital this morning surrendered peaceably to police about 9 a.m., more than 7 hours after the standoff began, authorities said.
The man was arrested, and no one at the hospital was injured, said Harrison Area Deputy Police Chief Wayne Gulliford, who refused to identify the man who other sources identified as a "person of interest" in the slayings of the gunman's parents in their home Tuesday night.
