Michael Pearson, 21 was preparing for deployment to the Middle East Thursday when he was gunned down at the Fort Hood Army base near Killeen, Texas by a renegade soldier. Pearson is one of two Chicago-area soldiers who were victims of the massacre. Franchezka Velez, also 21, had recently discovered she was pregnant. Velez was preparing to return to the Chicago area after returning form a deployment in Iraq.
