Who knew that a CTA train car pulling up was the armed robber version of a Happy Meal. As the doors opened, an armed robber hopped on, liberated an IPhone and got off the train before it moved.

It happens on CTA escalators all the time--customers riding to the top or bottom and being accosted by a thief or thieves. I saw it almost happen at Clark/Lake. It happened to me personally in Logan Square. The beat-down I got in late 2004 by a gang of kids at the top of the escalator at the unmanned Spaulding exit is what precipitated my move to busier downtown Chicago the following year. I still go back to my old neighborhood to buy Goya chorizo at Tianguis to make my mom's Spanish rice. But I never go near that neighborhood on the L after dark anymore.
Just curious, were the Chicago Police called? When one of my friends was molested on the CTA she told the CTA employee where the booth was, but the employee refused to do anything, like call the Transit Police who handle these kind of things. The more incident reports that are filed, the more attention they can get due to the numbers being public statistics.
Sorry to hear about what happened to you.
Gun beats paper, rock, and scissors. Bummer. Just give it up. I guess the good news is this doesn't happen all of the time.
