Watch it while you can until the MLB removes it from YouTube. I'd say this is a new low for Cubs fans.

Looked all over youtube for a replacement. Couldn't spot one.

Before I saw this I watched the soccer match between the USA and Mexico and there was a similar incident. One of the US players was going to do a corner kick and fans were trowing soda cups to the player, and they were actually hitting the player. The police with riot gear where trying to cover the player with their shields, but still some cups were hitting the player. My friend and I were saying that is classless and dirty and now to see the this same thing happen here it was truly disappointing. Players should not have to worry about being assaulted on the field while they are doing their job. I am glad the player filed a police report..

This guy should never be allowed to go to another baseball game. They should set up a dunk tank filled with spoiled milk and Victorino should rifle the ball at the target. I'd pay to see that.

THEY GOT THE WRONG GUY!!! Did anyone else notice this??

Yup. And I'm pretty sure they found that out pretty quickly, but not soon enough to stop the perpetrator for getting out of Wrigley before they could send him to Gitmo.

But I have no doubt this person will be found and brought to justice. The whole city of Chicago wants to find him. Eventually, one of his friends will rat him out, and when that happens, we'll have a new legendary figure in Cubs lore.

We just need a snappy nickname for him...

Okay, good. Thank you! I was feeling so bad for the guy that got kicked out. He was in a Cubs jersey and was probably a real fan, while the kid that did it was in a white shirt and no one even seemed to notice him.

Yeah, that poor kid is gonna have a rough few months...

Watching the video, you have to wonder if the guy who was initially busted was busted just because he looked really nerdy. There were a lot of rowdy fans up there yelling about stuff. Why'd they haul away the really schlubby looking guy if not because they assumed he fit the part?

When I was watching it looked like it was him because his arms were straight out, almost right over Victorino. I backed it up and it was pretty easy to see that the beer came from somewhere else though. I imagine they took him because he was shouting and had his hands out over the field, as though he just dropped the beer. That's what I thought at first too. Horrible.

Found this really hilarious and handy photo documenting the incident.

My caption

Possible beer-tosser:

No way man. No way was it me. That dude did it. That dude right there.

Dude removed by securtiy:

YEAHHHHH!!!!! TAKE THAT VICTORINO!!!! WE THROW BEER ON YOUUUUU!!!

Cubs security guy:

I hate my life.

Beer:

[a la Mel Gibson in "Braveheart"] FREEEEDOMMMM!!!!

Updates:

Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino filed a police report Thursday, a day after getting doused with beer while making a catch at Wrigley Field.

The incident is being investigating as a ``simple battery,'' police spokesman Michael Fitzpatrick said.

Victorino was hit with a cup of beer thrown from the bleachers Wednesday night in the Phillies' 12-5 win over the Chicago Cubs. The All-Star outfielder still managed to make the catch, and Cubs' management apologized to him Thursday.

``It's part of the game. It's one of those things that happens and I just want to make sure that guy gets what's due,'' Victorino said.
