Not saying it's good or bad, just kind of weird. I suppose the department of health should be stocked up on female condoms so they can give them out. $6 million dollars probably buys quite a few.

The condoms were purchased from these guys: http://www.globalprotection.com/
Here's a page on their sales site that shows you what they look like and cost: http://www.globalprotection.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store...
Again, I'm down with condoms, safe sex and all that. It just seems like an oddity to spend that much on something that was only just approved in the last six months: http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2009/jan/24/opinion/chi-0124edit3jan2...
Interestingly:
Global Protection Corp., the vendor in this deal, is based in Boston according to their site...
...BUT...
The Female Health Company, which manufactures the condoms as far as I can tell (compare the pics of the packaging on http://www.femalehealth.com/theproduct.html to the link above) is based in Chicago.
Coincidence? Probably not.
Has the city used them up yet?
