Insisting on doing what's right for Americans desperate for health care coverage is what my fellow SIU-Carbondale alumni Senator Roland Burris appears prepared to do just days before the US Senate votes on health care reform.

An important distinction: According to the linked article, Burris is holding out for the public option, not single-payer. Single-payer, H.R. 676, for example, would extend Medicare to everyone in the country and essentially do away with private insurance except as an add-on.
