Each VA Hospital offers specialized care to Illinois military veterans.

To paraphrase songstress Tracy Chapman's lyric, the Marion, Illinois VA Medical Center may seem like 300 miles away, but chronic medical ailments may make it the first choice for Chicagoans.

Have some VA Medical Centers benfitted from close proximity to private teaching hospitals, while others languish @ a distance. The former may included Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood & the adjacent Hines VA Medical Center. The latter may include the VA Medical Centers in Danville & Marion, Illinois.

(This Windy Citizen graduated from Danville Area Community College, once part of the Danville VA Hospital. His late father, a decorated WWII US Marine Corp veteran, sought care at the following VA Medical Centers: Danville; Lakeside; Madison, WI; Augusta, GA; Hines, IL & Westside Chicago.)
