Kiosks to replace greeters. Next up... vending machines to replace creepy guy in restrooms.
"In the end, the computer kiosk will provide the same services as customer service representatives...this change will save about $2 million."

Good find, Justin.

1. I don't expect many to mourn the loss of the greeters when they were making $50,000/year by some reports.

2. It's great that the city's saving $2 million by doing this.

3. But replacing them with machines misses the point. Yes, greeters solve information problems, but they also solve human problems, namely the problem of people not feeling welcomed when they arrive at the airport. No computer can make eye contact with a stressed out commuter or know when to radio ahead if someone's having a problem and needs help.
