CAPS founder Ted O'Keefe and recently deceased Back of the Yards community leader Arturo Velasquez Sr. were honored at the Peace and Education Coalition of Back of the Yards scholarship fundraiser. Mayor Richard M. Daley spoke at the event. Seventy high school and college students in the Back of the Yards neighborhood have applied for scholarship funds through this program, which requires community service as part of the selection process.
