A video by Sarahmaria Gomez and Alex Fledderjohn captures the voices of neighborhood residents talking about a community garden in East Garfield Park, the South Chicago Art Center, a mural in North Lawndale, the La Estancia development in Humboldt Park, a mariachi band at Cooper School in Pilsen, the Oakwood Shores mixed-income development in Bronzeville, the West Haven Giants baseball team and foreclosure-prevention efforts in Chicago Lawn. It's an inspiring five-minute piece.

I think newcommunities.org is such an important Web site because it covers news in neighborhoods that are under represented in Chicago media.
The South Chicago Art Center is the best.
AWESOME video!!
What Sarahmaria Gomez of TuMultimedia didn't say, in her comment above, was how much she enjoyed working on the piece. She and partner Alex Fledderjohn shot video and still photos (and collected sound) in 16 different communities, and they loved it, because the places are interesting and the people are great.
