"I feel so powerful!" - WGN anchor dunks over toddler, makes him cry on-air [video]

submitted 2 years ago by ChicagoBankerMan

To the pantheon of Chicago jerks, add this guy, a WGN reporter who dunks over a little kid named Tyler, laughs at him, makes him cry on air and then confesses that he feels "powerful" for doing it. Congratulations. A winner is you.

Much ado about nothing. It was funny, not mean-spirited.

The story that won't go away! Ha.

I think it's pretty clear that this was all fun and games. Sure the kid cried, but you know what? Crying kids are kind of funny sometimes. This is one such instance.

Inside Info: We had a bunch of sites link to this today, which is why I think it's shooting up the charts again. Our algorithm is a quirky thing sometimes.

ChicagoBankerMan must suck at basketball. WGN Morning News Team: Assemblllllle!

Oh man. That's an instant classic. What on earth were the kids parents expecting the reporter would do? Mom looked ticked off.

I love how the kid's dad thinks its kind of funny.

Anyone know who that reporter is? I can't decide if he's an outright douchebag or just kind of a funny guy.

It's Pat Tomasulo. You can find him on Facebook and Twitter.

Video says its "Pat Tomasulo" (pretty easy to spot, guys)

Here's his MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/pattomasulo

And here's a video of him saying good-bye to one of his producers:

In the last video, he comes off as kind of obnoxious, but no more than the average Lincoln Park chach.

HA! Well put Lana :-)

@Lana - I refuse to use texting acronyms - but this: "no more than the average Lincoln Park chach." made me laugh audibly.

I found the guy's video blog over on WGN. He's actually pretty hilarious. I could watch this stuff all day.

Here's him harassing shirtless joggers on the beach:

I actually live in Lakeview. And that kid had it coming.

"Dunks over"? Give me a break. He was joking around with the kid. The kid cried, and the mother totally over-reacted.

That wasn't the kids mother, it was another WGN personality who was also at the onsite event.
To the guy who posted this link: there is a narrow place in the cracks of hell for people who judge others after only viewing 30 seconds tidbits their life.

Well said, Kreampuff. This is a place to share, rate and discuss news, not rip on people behind fake user names. I'm glad Pat dropped by and took it with a sense of humor. Good link, poor framing of it.

It really was not that big of a deal. My son was more upset that he couldn't get the ball from Pat. Pat was joking around and it was all in good fun. I feel bad because I should have provided weak side help and blocked Pat's shot.

Tyler's Dad.

Coolest. Parents. Ever.

Ditto.

Pat is awesome and hilarious if this guy would take the time to watch him! I have two little ones and they cry probably twenty times a day. Obviously these parents have an actual sense of humor!

I thought it was hilarious. It's hard to do bits with kids and then have to do the sports afterwards? It's obvious that Pat wasn't trying to make the kid cry and when he did, he felt bad - but kept performing. It's good shit. More!
