Advertisers will soon be clamoring for prized positioning on Windy Citizen!
Considering the author (Brad Spirrison), I'm not entirely shocked. Nice mention!!
Ha, what do you mean by that? And thanks!
Way back in the old days (like 2001 +) it was ePrairie (Brad's), The May Report and Darcy Evon's iStreet covering what was hot (or not) in the Chicago tech scene. Darcy had the best rag but she closed shop first. :-( TMR is still TMR and ePrairie lost it's fun looking look for the more industrial image and renamed itself.
Upvoted for the background info. Did not know about i-Street before. What URL was it at?
it was http://www.i-street.com. The url and the online are long, long gone, but you can check out parts of it via Archive.com:

Not cooincidentally, the sidebar has a poll and 3 of the 5 were people I just mentioned. I must be turning into a fossil because "those days" seem so long ago.
More clout for you. Thanks for the answer. Ugh, those colors are painful! It's like the art directors for Saved by the Bell decided to make a web site.
Thanks for the clout. As a lifelong Chicagoan, that's a good thing! :-)
As for colors, remember, this site went up around 1999. Back then, this was probably considered one of the better looking ones. If you remember, there was no dearth of butt ugly websites back then.
I think it looked pretty nicely laid out and easy to read. That's the important part. Why'd it shut down?
I really don't remember. I think it had to do with getting or not getting investment cap at the time. I'm sure that running a hardcopy print version was costly.
Amazing how many of you don't mind that Hines wants to heap more taxes on everyone!! This guy would be just one more Democrat disaster for Illinois.
That may be the case, mobilevulgus, but we're fortunate to have a current Constitutional officer underwriting our endeavor by helping Brad Flora pay the bills.
As Comptroller Daniel Hynes may find him self looking in from the outside, Windy Citizens may discover valued insights through his participation. Thanks Laura!
I love to see advertising, that's for sure. Kudos for WindyCity getting some advertising $$. As long as the site doesn't misrepresent every member here as supporting the taxhiking Democrats.
Is there any other kind?
Hynes' ad is in no way an endorsement of his campaign or platform. It is, however, an endorsement of what we're doing here on the WC. The quickest path to a better service with more Chicagoans joining in the conversation is through a healthy advertising base. We're making more progress on that front every day. Thanks for your support.
Let's recruit some angel investors & put some Windy Citizens to work full time on this venture.
We have a compelling proposition!
