Sounds like they were pretty thoughtful and considerate about the whole thing. I too, when watching the video, was stunned by the idea of someone filming this and not intervening, but the footage is what it is and it's good that it saw the light of day.

During the time that the story broke, the Tribune said they were told a price of $500. At the time, it was also reported that the video was made by a woman who wanted to show what goes on regularly in their neighborhood. I thought it sounded like the man's voice in the video seemed to be the person with the camera, but apparently it was a friend or relative. It seems like the person that made the video was being rather brave, given that they could have been also attacked at any time. Anyway, the rest is history. P.S. I meant to be replying to your comment, Lanarama.

Interesting! So the Tribune balked at paying $500?

According to this story, they may have balked at paying in cash vs. with a check.

Fox news got this video because one of their producers was able to pay $250 in cash for it on the spot.

Bureaucracy killed in this case.

I'm sure I saw a report by the Trib that Fox paid $500. So I guess you're inferring that they assumed Fox got the video for the same price they were offered. Interesting. Anybody know any loose-lipped Tribbers, heheh? Actually, I'm pretty sure I also saw reported that a female shot the video, which the Fox person also contradicts, and which makes sense, if you've heard the audio ("Day-ammm!"). So it seems there was some inaccurate info being reported. The old "don't assume" rule always applies.

Well, with a video of a street fight, I'm not surprised some of the facts are hazy.
