The Chicago News Cooperative (CNC), which launched last week, is not, singlehandedly, going to reverse [the local news] decline. It is a start-up, and many major tests are still to come.
But as CNC's press release declared, it is committed to providing "high quality, professionally edited news and commentary to the Chicago region on the Web, in print and over the airwaves."

What's your take on it, dan?
It sounds to me like they'll be putting out some neat stories. I'm not sure if I have time to read much more than I already do though.
More importantly, are they hiring?
I've yet to hear about the digital efforts the Cooperative will be putting forth. When I hear -- which will hopefully be soon -- I'll let you all know!
City News Bureau? Associated Press? United Press International? What's so new about the Chicago News Cooperative, dan360man?
qstrian: Have you read the story? It's funded by grants. It's a nonprofit.
Associated Press was established as a co-operative endeavor. Voluntary grant funding distinguishes Chicago News Cooperative. Thanks for the share, dan360man.
