Couldn't be happier about this. Coming from the Schubas crew, you know it will be a top-notch facility that books great bands.
A good piece from Kott with several items that caught my eye:
1. The alderman says she's not so worried about the new venue hitting snags because she trusts the owners. Can you put a price tag on having that kind of relationship with the powers that be?
2. The plan for this club seems pretty solid: "Draw on our Schuba's contacts. Add more parking than you find at any of our competition (via this hospital parking deal mentioned in the comments)." Having loads of parking sounds like a killer asset for the new club.
3. Regardless of how good their relationship with the alderman is, Chicago sounds like an exhausting place to open a new brick and mortar business, especially one serving alcohol, especially one putting on rock shows.
I look forward to checking out the new venue!
Really excited about this considering I live right next door.
