Tried to click through but the note wasn't made public.

Same here: "Sorry, you do not have permission to see this note."

I wish the link was public, so I could actually read the story!

it's a long fucking story. basic reactionary bullshit on the part of the CPD. the dog is alive and will be ok. it's pretty neat that a 7 year old got to watch a cop shoot a dog though. Sun at 10:04am

At least she learned a very important lesson* early on.

this wouldn't have happened if we'd been in my neighborhood. but in Humboldt Park, they like to shoot dogs surrounded by screaming neighbors (all trying to stop the shooting), refuse to give you their badge number, call you "stupid idiots", then threaten to arrest you.

Please tell the whole story. Also I'm not the litigious type but sue them for causing mental distress on behalf of your children. Sun at 10:13am

yes, last night f*cking sucked. on top of them having shot the dog in front of a 7 year old, we were treated like shit by the dozen officers on site from the 14th district. a plenty disenchanting event following delicious seafood skewers & caipirinhas. Sun at 12:22pm

Jennifer Norborg
this was with an actual GUN, not a taser? unbelievable. (and amazing that the dog lived, if so...) poor Mabel! poor DOG! Sun at 12:25pm

Jay Ranzi posted an account in my notes. anyone who wants me to get the word out should show me how to do it, and who to talk to specifically. Sun at 12:57pm

Yesterday we’re at our friend Clintina’s house for a BBQ. She has a fenced in back and front yard connected through a gangway. Shortly after dark Brick (the dog in question, and a Pit Bull) got out of the yard w/ his cousin Dolly (a Lab mix). We don’t know how they got loose. There are two gates between the back yard and the street. All the gates were closed previously but a neighbor is the prime suspect right now. Several minutes after they got loose, a neighbor rang the doorbell and told us they thought the dogs were loose. We rallied the troops to get out front to see what we could see, never suspecting there was any problem other than the fact that the dogs were not in the yard, and had maybe ran a few blocks away.

When we get out front, there are several police cars up the block, blocking off the street. The seven or eight of us are spread out up the block, some of us just getting down the stairs, some of us, including Mabel, are already at the scene when the cop decided it was time to shoot Brick. Half the block was there yelling at the cops, telling them who the dog belonged to, calling the dog by name, but they weren’t there to listen. They were just there to get their dicks hard.

One asshole from the block claimed Brick was attacking people. He said he saved his wife and two kids from Brick by TROWING THEM ON TOP OF A CAR. Obviously this was a lie, because there was no one else around who could show us that they had been attacked, or could explain the circumstances behind the alleged attack, and there were piles of witnesses who saw nothing happen other than brick walking down the street, with his cousin Dolly. I’m assuming that this asshole saw the dogs, and acting like a scared little bitch, ran away, prompting Brick to follow, thinking it was a game.

After the kids (Mabel, Nivia – Clintina’s daughter, Mason – Nivia’s cousin) were traumatized and bawling in the street like Boyz n the Hood, I took them inside. In the mean time, the other adults were outside with the neighbors and cops. The cops knew they fucked up right away, started lashing out at Clintina, Jennifer, and anyone else around who questioned them. They called Jennifer et al “stupid” and “idiots”. They refused to give their badge numbers, threatened to arrest everyone in site, and wouldn’t move their cars so that the dog could be brought to the emergency vet. They only interviewed people who claimed they saw Brick “attacking people”, none of whom live on the block (aside from the guy who “saved” his family). They were described to me as people who all live a few blocks away in public housing, and were probably just there to get involved for no reason other than that they didn’t have anything better to do. NO ONE with the opposite point of view, all of whom lived on the block, had a statement taken before the cops scurried off under the rock they came from. When Jennifer went to the cop shop on California (by Ronny’s) to file her report, she was treated like a piece of shit. The Sergeant she talked to, who admitted to being on the scene that night, literally wouldn’t even look at her. Just talked to her as a second thought while he stared at his computer. He claimed the report was closed, even though he was TYPING IT UP AS SHE SPOKE TO HIM, and was talking to other officers about it INFRONT OF HER. He then claimed he couldn’t add anything to it. A blatant lie, especially when a weapon was discharged.
Needless to say if we were in Wicker Park, none of this would have happened.

All in all folks, it was pretty fucked, and as I see it the terrorists win

The police shot your dog with a gun that fires bullets because a neighbor complained about it running loose? Is that what happened?

Or was your dog tazed?

In the copied Facebook conversation above, you say the dog's doing well, that tells me it was tazed and not shot with a firearm.

Trying to understand.

That's my read on what happened. This is like a twisted version of that scene in To Kill A Mockingird, where the cops shoot Atticus' dog instead of the other way around.

the dog was shot in the chest, with a gun, while 20ish people were standing around telling the cop not to shoot, while my 7 year old daughter was running toward the dog. the cop was a bad shot. it went in the chest, out the shoulder. the dog is home now, but the whole situation was beyond nuts.

Did you talk to the neighbors who felt threatened by your dog? Do you think it was because it was a pit bull, a dog with a bad reputation that the cops were so freaked out?
