Wow. I work near here, and had never seen this particular angle on things.
This is a beautiful photo. It almost makes you forget that there's boarded up buildings and scattered patches of unkempt grass right in the midst of it.
Giving credit where credit is due, I originally saw the pic here: http://jasmined.tumblr.com/post/185447812/snapshot-david-schalliols-puli...
Thanks, Anna, this is a great shot!
Anna! Thanks for posting! Such a great pic must be shared, and shared again.
Some great discussion over on WBEZ's blog, too: http://apps.wbez.org/blog/?p=5958
Wow this is an amazing shot, gorgeous and emotional.
The craft in the use of the "depth of field" along with the thematic juxtaposition of beauty and tragedy, hope and fear, yadda yadda yadda...
great shot. great, great shot.
Thanks for pointing out our post, Brad.
During the darkest days of the CHA the walkways were covered with metal mesh to prevent stuff from falling/being thrown. While this photo is touching I think this kid probably is probably better off than his predecessors. I met a projects kid that said he took the tv in the bathroom on New Year's to avoid getting shot.
