Does North Ogden really circle a baseball diamond?

Google maps displays this strange little satellite section of Ogden, which I never noticed until today.
Wikipedia gives a little more information about how this came to be:

Additionally, here is the street sign on Clybourn which does not mark an actual intersection: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryan_g/4133372817/

Watch "Running Scared," the cop comedy with Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal, for a hilarious stop-motion scene filmed on the Ogden overpass before it was torn down.

I remember when they demolished the overpass. It went over industrial buildings on Goose Island and they put sheets of plywood with old tires underneath to cushion any chunks of concrete that may have gotten away from the demo crews.

My understanding is that the overpass was built in King Richard I's postwar orgy of public works construction. All hail King Richard!

Now gimme love people, I went and shared with you, don't be stinging. It's the season of giving anyway!

Its a little stretch of Ogden that's not connected to the rest of Ogden. That baseball diamond is at the old Near North Career High School. The school itself is closed (I think CFD or some other city agency uses it now) but the baseball field is still used by CPS. Jones College Prep uses it as its home field. Its a nice field overall.
