Supposedly "Laborers do not get sick days. They are permitted to hold up to five vacation days to be used as sick days with supervisors' approval."

Taxpayer perspective: quit your job if you don't want to show up & work every day.

Physicians should document the nature of persistant illnesses. Streets & Sanitation may be privatized if rampant absenteeism can't be quelled, John Powers.

Fran Spielman provides an excellent role mode for aspiring journalists, but even the best are tempted every day to compromise that which is known & should be shared with the public with future access.

Here's a nice positive story about Chicago's workers (the backbone of our economy) benefiting from the pleasures of extracurricular leisure activities and somehow it becomes NEGATIVE and MUCKRAKING. I'm so disappointed in Fran. :O

Interesting that they don't get sick days even now. Columbia College has a very strict attendance policy and even they have allowed some bend in the rules with the H1N1 craze that is going around.
