The Chicago Sun Times reports that City Clerk Miguel de Valle wants a top-down review of the placement of hundreds of red-and-white permit parking signs lining streets & boulevards like so much lawn furniture. Should the permits reserve spaces for property owners, while forcing renters to circle the block?

My brother was telling me recently that there are multiple permit zones around where he lives, but none for his block, which is on a boulevard. When there's sweeping, he's got big problems.
Right near me there is a lot of permit and non permit areas and street sweeping causes some serious issues too. Luckily on Elston there is a long stretch that is non permit and no cleaning. Just need to watch for the snow when it comes.
I'm a renter and I've got a parking permit, so I think the description is misleading. Street cleaning is always a pain, but generally not a problem for me. What's been a problem has been the water/sewage pipe work they've been doing on my street, forcing all of us to park elsewhere while they turned it into a tow zone the past three months.
