There are a few pockets on the Northside that have discouraged me from parking, especially in Bucktown, where it can be hard to find a place to park on busy streets. I have turned around and gone home many times due to the sheer fact that the neighborhoods surrounding major shopping areas were blocked off due to those infamous red and white signs.
Even in my old neighborhood, before I signed my lease, obtaining a parking permit almost put me in a jam because I don't have Illinois license plates or a city sticker. Luckily, my alderman was very helpful in helping me get the information I needed to park in the area.
