Soooo, let me see if I'm understanding this correctly. The recession sucks, but yay, at least some investment bankers killed themselves! Not funny in my book. Ira, if you drop by here, what's up with that?

Anna, these guys just blew up our economy. I think %90 of us can take an non-PC joke at their expense.

I guess I see it differently and I bet so would the family and friends left behind when someone takes their own life. Whatever people might have done in their lives, these are still human beings we're talking about. And for that matter, do you know for a fact that the ones who have killed themselves were directly responsible in some way for the economic downturn? I'm saying, it's not excusable to make the joke even if you DO know it for a fact. But if I'm using your logic (where it's ok to joke about someone's suicide if they caused the recession) then it still doesn't wash.

The joke isn't whether suicide is really a good thing for anyone, it's about juxtaposing anger toward financial institutions and their lackeys with a simple pleasure: cheap cocktails. The opening line clearly distracted you from the content of the post, which is not my objective.

No, I read the whole post and found it witty, informative and amusing, as per your usual style. But I still think a bad, inappropriate joke in service of a somewhat nobler goal is still a bad, inappropriate joke. We can just agree to disagree I guess.
