Army Pfc. Francheska Velez's death has had a ripple effect in Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood.

In the two weeks since the 21-year-old was killed in a rampage at a Texas military base, dozens of her high school friends have reunited for the first time since graduation. They threw house parties, cried together at memorial services and met at Applebee's, her favorite restaurant.
