In the 1970s, Gary Goehl was a right-hand man for the late Ed Rosewell, a former Cook County treasurer who was himself a right-hand man for Mayor Richard J. Daley. Rosewell pleaded guilty in 1998 to charges related to a city ghost-pay-rolling scheme.

Ah, Gary Goehl. He was the one who wrote that piece for the New York Times a couple of weeks ago, "Chicago Confidential."
