Adelle, Hugh, head on over to the main thread at: http://www.windycitizen.com/chicago/politics/2009/06/03/chicago-city-cou...
In retrospect, we maybe should have used this thread, but I made a new one, so lets try to use that.
This was a lot of fun last time. I'll be there.
It was fun, albeit time consuming. I'll be there for part of it, as much as I can.
Can't wait. My Wednesday morning is blocked out again for this. Good stuff.
Pre-game Show
Last month we feted Ald. Ocasio, leaving to bring his demonstrated skills in the dysfunctional operation of government to the Quinn administration. Will the Council seat its first openly homophobic alderman? This month will we be treated to Our Village Elders falling over themselves in praise of retiring Ald. Banks?
Conspicuous in its absence last month was any acknowledgement of the passing of former alderman Leon Despres. Will Ald. Burke be ready this month with a memorial resolution and stirring oratory in praise of the shouldering the heavy burden of representing your constituency?
Will our elected representatives be able to complete the work of one of the world's great cities before the best downtown kitchens close to switch over to dinner menus?
Tune in for the answers to these and other pressing issues of our time.
A young Chicago police officer was shot dead in the line of duty this week. Look for a first hour or so of eulogizing.
Will there be any divided votes? Or will our best & brightest follow their usual pattern and settle the entire day's labor with all unanimous votes?
Will the usually loquacious Ald. Carothers say anything, or will we witness how an impending arraignment heightens one's sense of discretion?
The suspense is killing me.
Hugh, you are such a cynic. Don't you know they'll be nominating Alderman Carothers for his honest service to the City followed by a hearty hale of applause for the great parking meter deal?
Well, I guess Carothers isn't going to let a federal indictment crimp his style.
Hey Hugh! The convo's over at: http://www.windycitizen.com/chicago/politics/2009/06/03/chicago-city-cou...
Mayor Daley:
Now he's ranting about parents who can't control their kids.
"If you can't control your child, call 311"
???
Daley: "If you can't control your child, call 311."
