Well, I disagree with almost everything this blogger says, except the part about how much Mark Kirk sucks - http://www.windycitizen.com/chicago/politics/2009/06/15/us-rep-mark-kirk...
Kirk is a moderate conservative from a split district. One man's cowardice is another person's Democracy in Action. Kirk's proven himself skillful at navigating the politics of his district. Ultimately neither conservatives nor liberals are happy, (though the edge and "important" votes go to the conservatives) but he gets enough votes to stay in office. The real question is: Who is really winning from this situation?
One may be surprised to learn that Congressman Mark Kirk (R-IL) broke with fellow Republicans & recommended that the recently passed economic stimulus be confined to just $65Billion, including giving American families $1,500 debit cards to resurrect consumer spending. Kirk's plan would have been timely, targeted & temporary.
