State legislators do it all of the time. Watch the next televised Congressional hearing & you'll see both Democrats & Republicans manipulating something on their laps. I trust that it's either instant message texting or tweeting.

That said. Qstrian's got a point. Aren't these people twittering during meetings essentially just promoting themselves on federal property? How long until someone files a lawsuit?

Follow legislative tweets/Facebook postings & you'll soon ask whether only a few subject experts scrutinize legislative language, while the rest are left replying to constituent postings, fund-raising & enjoying lavish lobbyist hospitality.
