Clouted admissions may be one of the best lessons students will learn from the Chicago Tribune investigation.
The best story might be who lit the brush fire which led to this academic inferno? Might someone's child have been denied University of Illinois admission?
The University of Illinois & CPS academic admissions controversies beg the question: have we favored the few elite school graduates at the expense of the many?
Shall we continue the illusion that elite school graduates deserve special consideration in job interviews & graduate school admission?
This abusive practice is a long-standing one. Allow me to invite other elite school graduates to join me in explaining how they benefitted from clouted intercession. Candid discussions will help the healing.

I respect all the reporting the Tribune has put into this story, but from day one I've had a hard time understanding exactly why a) anyone was surprised by this practice and b) it was such a terrible thing in practice (not principle, where it is undoubtedly incongruent).
Big state school with a big, Chief Illiniwek-shaped target on its back?
This may change the hue of my fuzzy college memories for good, though, knowing that, perhaps, one of the hands hoisting me up for a keg stand might have been clouted in.
I remember distinctly a clique of guys I used to roll with, all of them from Beverly... could they've?.... nah!
