Looking forward to joining this discussion thread, fellow Windy Citizens! Allow me to provide insight in to the festivities, especially concerning the Northwest Side Chicago City Council aldermanic voting block.
Attending one another's fundraisers or sharing state legislative districts are the following Chicago City Council Alderpersons: Laurino; Levar; Allen & Rice (ne Banks).
Occasionally, you might also see Alderman Edward Burke @ one of the late 45th Ward Committeeman Thomas Lyons' fundraiser as the two helped slate Cook County Circuit Court Judges & Lyons's Alderman Patrick Levar sat on Burke's City Council Finance Committee, occasionally substituting as Committee Chairman.
no, my firefox window won't allow me to scroll down to see comments, it just automatically scrolls back to the top. a sacrifice i'll make for the video.
Who could disagree with Chicago Police enforcing laws, but Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman knows for fundamental familial intervention is urgently needed.
Aren't taxpayers paying twice by long-term leasing parking meters? Aren't we watching a band of aldermanic pirates loot our children's legacy by spending the parking meter & Chicago Skyway sale "rainy day fund" to pay for a recurring municipal budget expenditures?
Who offered the metaphorical kabuku theater analogy?
The transcription element in the iframe up above was goofing things up. I didn't see that one coming but will have a solution in place for the next time around. D'oh!
my take-aways - VERY defensive on the issues he is most vulnerable on: the parking meter deal & youth violence, in other words, he's running! it's the 1st speech of the 2011 campaign, incl. the traditional Daley campaign launch "no new taxes" pledge
What I've learned from this thread and others is that we should offer an option at the top of the comments to let people sort the threads in chronological order or by popularity. Popularity is most interesting most of the time, but for this, chrono would have worked better.
I agree that replies to specific comments need to be in the threads. that's pretty standard on the web.

How do we make the comments easier for visitors to follow?
May I recommend that we simply post comments at the bottom of the main thread so that we may follow a single train of conversation?
Replies to individual comments makes it more challenging for outsiders to follow if they are unaccustomed to our prevailing practice.
