Before even reading the story, my reaction to the headline alone was one filled with lots of choice words for our supposedly green mayor. In addition to the fact that there's no money in the proposed 2010 budget for continuing the roll-out of the blue-cart recycling program, some households would have recycling pickup every third week instead of every other week. That means the already overflowing carts will be in fantastic condition by the time they get around to picking it up.

i live in the 26th ward, our new alderman's website informs me that if you don't already have a cart (we don't), you won't be getting one anytime soon.
Let's not forget our alley pickers. There our only pickup service now. It ought to be possible to recycle. Have you heard of plasma waste recycling? They could run all of the landfills through one of those systems and recover all the material and energy and still get a net energy gain at the recycling machine.
