One must make installment payments or, as is popular with cash strapped consumers these days, lay away payments. Were the Airport franchises worth one hundred grand? Only the future cash flows know for sure. When a businessman knows better than to trust a politician, spoon feeding the politicians is the prudent approach.
To paraphrase singer Rod Stewart, every Alderperson has a fund-raising sugar daddy. Published reports suggest simply that Alderman Carrothers turned on his own chief fund-raiser & landlord.
Notice the synergistic nature of the one dollar land sale within feet of another half million dollar land parcel sale. Did the City of Chicago create a quasi tax increment finance district (TIF) to spur development in the 5300 block of West Madison, just a rifle shot from the United Center--home of the Chicago Bulls?
To find the rest of the aldermanic sugar daddy fund-raisers, simply determine the ownership of the building where the alderperson holds court & you'll likely find more of these fund-raisers, especially if the elected official lacks a prophylactic law license.
