get rid of them before they get the idea that they will accomplish something but not for the citizens, they do that in Canada all the time................get rid of the free perks they get and see how many run then..!!!

Representative Fritchey & I spoke with one another this past "Black Friday" @ a major consumer electronics store which is located in his legislative district. My former fellow Congressional candidate expressed his concern that voters will be pre-occupied with the holidays, making candidate advertising problematic.

Expect politicians to attempt to piggyback upon other newsmakers & holiday festivities to keep their candidacies visible until they launch advertising campaigns just after New Year's Day. For example, Representative Fritchey's visit co-incided with WGN-TV news coverage of that same big box consumer electronics store's shopping.

Man -- I remember writing a piece on politicians using social media when I was still at Medill! Fritchey, I think, was probably the one most comfortable using it.

Of course, that was four years ago.

That's where I first saw this story, danielhonigman.

Public relations people teach novices how to use twitter, facebook, et al.

Has the use of social networking media gone mainstream? Has the medium become the message, borrowing from Marshall McLuhan?
