Imagine sight impaired Chicagoans dialing four additional telephone numbers simply to call a neighbor!
10,000 number block disbursement of Chicago area coded telephone numbers forced the early addition of new phone numbers. Might better management of these precious telephone numbers help avert eleven digit dialing.
So basically for my cell phone if I have to dial a Chicago number, it's telling me that the 773, 312, or 872 won't be enough without a 1 in front of it? That sounds terribly inconvenient and annoying considering I have friends and businesses in my phone under all types of Chicago area codes and it would be a hassle going through to reprogram them all.
Suburbanites have been dialing 11 numbers to call their neighbors for years. Qstrian, are you saying that city dwellers don't measure up?
Shammara8, if you already have the area code programmed, it probably won't affect your cell phone.
