I doubt they have a plan B. That said, they're probably just happy to have him off the field and out of their hair. He was a cloud hanging over everything.
I hate to say it, BankerMan, but Plan B is bringing Bradley back. What a mess. You know Tom Ricketts doesn't want $21 million going out the door with no value coming back. I wrote when he signed there'd be trouble if he got off to a poor start. The worse-case scenario played out. I'll have more on this as the off-season progresses at www.TrueSlant.com/GeorgeCastle
I have to agree that there's no way they'll cut Bradley and let him walk. Although, I'm sure they're looking at any deal possible to get him out of Chicago. He's such a cancer.
The priority IS getting Bradley out of Dodge. The reality is the potential list of trading partners is so limited. Forget about the money issue. What team would want to take on Bradley's mental state? Why even risk it anymore?
I completely agree. But if he's on this team next year, Cubs fans should call for Hendry's head. It's obvious Bradley doesn't to be here and nobody wants him here.
Ricketts wants to win the World Series, but that'll never happen with Bradley in the outfield.
One thing Hendry can't do, Richard, is hold up other acquisitions while he tries to trade Bradley. Ricketts must put this in a special financial category for the time being. The Cubs were goofed up for two years in 2005 when major moves were held up because Hendry had to move Sammy Sosa's contract off the books before he could spend on anyone else.
True, but getting Bradley out of Chicago has to be a priority. I can't think of any other positions on the team that really need much improvement. Bradley was a flop in both playing ability and personality.
How about Aaron Rowand? The Giants are in a similar situation with him. Seeing how he was on another Chicago team as they won the World Series, I think he'd understand what it means to be in a major and high pressure market such as Chicago.
