Consumers get asynchronous DSL or cable internet service when they contract with AT&T or Comcast. That means that it's easier to download Internet web pages then to upload information.
On the other hand, I have provisioned symmetrical DSL to some virtual workers & symmetrical T1 service to small & mid-sized businesses. (The latter is becoming much more affordable for small business, but still pricey for most consumers.)
What's the solution? May I recommend that Windy Citizens try one of the so-called 4G (fourth generation) carrier such as Clearwire, rolling out their city wide WIFI service this month. Using this WIFI Internet access services works around future congestion in the landline facilities & should help give you smooth sailing on the Internet.
